Poor business policies. The workmanship is average. The bookkeeper is the the coordinator and it doesn't work. Check your invoices. I know it's a pandemic but that should not make a business shifty. The do not show up on time and then surprise you in the evening with 8 calls or texts from the bookkeeper I would stay away. There are plenty of reputable awning companies out there.

First, I rarely leave negative reviews. I try to be understanding and as long as a company does a decent job or appears to be trying to do the right thing. With that said, I feel that people need to be cautious when working with Mineola signs. We used them in the spring to put vinyl lettering on the front door. That went very well. We had no problems and it was done quickly. Seeing how well they did that job, I inquired about getting an awning done as well.
This project has not gone well at all. We were given a quote from Tom that supposedly included "installation, all permit fees, architect, etc." I asked Tom if they handle securing the permit. Tom said, "Yes, I have a 40 plus year relationship with the township. Will take care of all concerns." We agreed and sent in a deposit. First, nobody sent the paperwork to us for our signatures.
After a month went by, I asked for an update. They claimed to be waiting for us to return the signed paperwork to them. They never sent paperwork to us. Eventually, someone came and dropped it off. We signed it and got it notarized. I went to drop it off at Mineola signs - at the address that is on Tom's email signature. Only to find an empty building and some guy telling me they went out of business. Apparently, they moved, but Tom hadn't updated his signature.
They picked up the permit paperwork and more time elapsed. I checked on it once in early July and was told that there was a 4-6 week backup for permits at the town. In mid August, I received a package that has all the paperwork for the permit as well as a check dated August 9th from Mineola signs made out to the town. Supposedly, the town only does permits online now so everything was returned to us, but I was under the impression that the permit was submitted back in early July (not August as the check would indicate).
At the same time I get a revised invoice from Mineola Signs that is about $1000 more than what I was quoted with 2 extra fees added in. I've asked for our deposit to be returned. She said they would but that they were taking out the fees they paid to the architect already. So I am writing this as a warning to everyone. If you need a simple job done like vinyl lettering -they can do that.
If you need something more complicated that requires a permit and a deposit - you may want to try another company. Tom does not appear to have much of a relationship with the town and I feel like I've been misled the throughout this whole process. There are complaints on the Better Business Bureau that I wish I had seen before starting this process.
Make sure to read those as well so you know what you're getting into. *UPDATE* Sept 2021 - I added a star because they refunded my full deposit rather than taking the architecture fees out as they said they would do.

BEWARE! I deposited $14,000.00 to a digital sign last year, February 2019. Although it took a while to obtain a variance for the permit, it was approved in February. When I contacted Tom about the sign, he informed me that the company is going OUT OF BUSINESS; they are filing for bankruptcy. But there are still open and trying to do business, as usual, to get more money from customers.

I called Tom from Mineola signs to give me an estimate for the sign for my new salon on LI. He managed to insult me in first few sentences by saying that he will not discuss any ideas with me so I would not go and do it cheaper in the place like Flushing. He apologized after I told him that I am a professional successful business owner and that's not the way to talk to a new customer. We sat up the time for him to come to do the estimate. He never showed up. I ordered beautiful sign later from his competition who were quick and professional.

What an amazing experience from start to finish! After speaking to a few different sign shops I settled on Mineola Signs and couldn't be happier. They were able to get everything I asked done for my new business in time for opening day. I have gotten so many compliments on their work. I highly recommend!

The owner of this company is hands down the most arrogant, ignorant moron you will ever meet. The workmanship is garbage, my gold leaf is bleeding off my signs ( that are 2 years old, they started falling apart over a year ago ) signs are splitting from the back. Signing on with this company was the biggest mistake I ever made. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR --- STAND CLEAR

This company was fired from two rather large projects because they drug their feet on super urgent permit submittals, then after they were fired from the projects they sent two invoices for "their work completed" for permitting, which was never done. So I paid another company to do what they were supposed to do (which was 100% done within 2 days, not the 2 months they had the project). I would never use this company again and I hope this post reaches their clients before they make the mistake of using them!

I reached out to Mineola Signs for pricing on a sign for a Parks and Req project here in NYC. I received the quotation with more than enough time to review. We have not put in our proposal yet but Tom in the sales dept. was much help. Their pricing are in the range but could be a slight bit more competitive. I believe its do to the fact that they are usually listed in the specifications as the prime fabricator for these type of signs.

"Although we already had a sign partner assigned to a job due to a cost difference. Mineola made sure that I had their quote right away. In fact, they mailed it to me 4 times. Better than the alternative though. Due diligence is an important thing in this industry and it looks like they do their part. I'd like to use these guys in the future."

Mineola signs designed an attractive quality sign as contracted however to my dismay At 61/2 years the wood sign began to disintegrate and chip. I was told the warranty was up And I would basically have to purchase a new sign. I was throughly disturbed by this as I had recommended this company to my local businesses and church. Ironically the churches sign fell apart just as mine did. the chain was broken. I would not recommend this company for a sign if longevity is what you're looking for.

Great people who do amazing work. My family had Mineola Signs install an awning over our back porch last year and we couldn't be happier. They were quick, reliable and extremely patience, which was very fortunate for us because my parents kept changing their minds. The awning is structurally very strong and has withstood heavy rain/snow storms without showing signs of wear and tear. Most importantly though, the awning came out beautifully! I strongly recommend you consider them for your next project.

This company is terrible. They have made my company wait OVER 1 YEAR for my sign and its still not done! They lie to their customers constantly. They make empty promises, treat you like you're stupid. Blame their inadequacies on everyone else like town offices and none of it is true. They are horrible to deal with. Do yourself a favor and find another company. I have since found a company called Valle Signs. The guy Neal is awesome to deal with.
